Apple recently launched the iPhone 16e, its newest entry-level model, replacing the iPhone SE. Priced at $599, it significantly narrows the price gap with the iPhone 16 ($799). Available for pre-order on February 21st, with general availability on February 28th, the iPhone 16e represents a shift from the substantial discounts offered by previous SE models.

A Key First: Apple's C1 Modem

The iPhone 16e is notable for being the first device to incorporate Apple's C1 cellular modem. While Apple's in-house chip designs have been successful, the C1's performance will be crucial. Its reliability will determine the phone's overall connectivity, a factor that significantly impacts user experience.

Design and Display: Familiar Territory

From the front, the iPhone 16e closely resembles the iPhone 14, boasting a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 2532x1170 resolution and 1200-nit peak brightness. However, it falls short of the iPhone 16's display quality. It does include the Action button and a USB-C port, but lacks Camera Control.
