Squares

Maximize your word score to win! Squares is a daily word puzzle game blending strategy and word-finding. The goal: complete squares on a grid to form words and achieve the highest possible score.

Gameplay:

Connect letters in any direction – up, down, left, right, or diagonally – to create words. Your objective is to locate all words within the letter grid and accumulate the maximum points.

Game Rules:

• Scoring: Earn one point for each letter in a word (e.g., a five-letter word earns five points).
• Word Length: Words must contain at least four letters.
• Letter Usage: Each tile can only be used once per word.
• Excluded Words: Hyphenated words, proper nouns, vulgar terms, and uncommon words are not included in the main word list.

Bonus Words:

Uncommon, archaic, or slang words are considered bonus words. These don't contribute to your main score but appear in a separate bonus list. You can continue searching for them even after finding all main words (post-game). Each puzzle also features a "Word of the Day," a special, often longer bonus word, rewarding you with two extra hints upon successful identification.

A new Squares puzzle is available daily at midnight.

Grid Rotation:

Need a fresh perspective? Rotate the grid left or right using the buttons in the bottom right corner. A different viewpoint can often unlock hidden words.

Letter Hints:

After discovering 40% of the words, a hint is provided: a number appears on each letter, indicating how many words begin with that letter. The absence of a number means no words start with that letter. Letters turning orange signify they've been used in all main words but may still appear in bonus words.

Hints System:

Each puzzle offers 3-5 hints (lightbulb icons). Using a hint reveals the first letter of a random word and its starting direction. The number of hints depends on the puzzle's difficulty. Sharing the game link with friends grants one extra hint!
