Project Zomboid: How to Board Up Windows
Surviving a zombie apocalypse in Project Zomboid requires more than just finding shelter; securing it is crucial. One effective method is barricading windows, a simple yet vital step in fortifying your safehouse.
How to Barricade Windows in Project Zomboid
To board up a window, gather these essential items: one wooden plank, a hammer, and four nails. Once you have them, right-click the window you wish to secure. Your character will automatically begin the process, attaching the plank. Each window can accommodate up to four planks for increased protection.
Finding these supplies is relatively straightforward. Hammers and nails are typically found in toolboxes, garages, sheds, and closets. Wooden planks are common on construction sites, or can be salvaged by dismantling wooden furniture like shelves and chairs. Administrators can use the "/additem" command to spawn items.
Barricaded windows significantly hinder zombie access. The more planks you add, the more time it takes for them to breach the defenses. To remove planks, right-click the boards and select "Remove," requiring a claw hammer or crowbar.
Note that large furniture items (bookshelves, refrigerators, etc.) are ineffective as barricades; players and zombies will simply pass through them. However, knowing how to move furniture remains a useful skill for interior design.
For superior protection, consider metal bars or sheets, but this requires sufficient Metalworking skill.
