Pokémon UNITE Adds Empoleon, More Water-Types to Follow

Pokémon UNITE is expanding its roster once again, and this September, Empoleon is set to officially join the battle. But that’s not all—several other new Pokémon are tagging along, ready to shake up the meta with water-type moves and legendary impact.
When does Empoleon arrive in Pokémon UNITE?
The All-Rounder Pokémon makes its debut on September 19. Empoleon was initially teased during the 2025 Pokémon World Championships, showcased with a purple background—the game's signature color for All-Rounders.
As an Emperor-category Pokémon, Empoleon brings abilities like Torrent to the fray. Its balanced stats from Scarlet and Violet align well, with Special Attack and Special Defense slightly outperforming other stats. Check out the official announcement video below.

Empoleon's arrival is big news, but there's more excitement ahead
Dhelmise and Vaporeon are also confirmed for the roster, though their release dates remain under wraps. While full skill-set details are still pending, both are anticipated to introduce fresh tactical options.
Before Empoleon dives in, another major update is headed to Pokémon UNITE. Starting September 4, Groudon will appear as a new neutral boss in Theia Sky Ruins.
Defeating Groudon grants a major attack boost and accelerates goal scoring. If an opponent holding Groudon’s buff is defeated, the effect instantly transfers to you.
And don’t forget—Pokémon UNITE’s 4th Anniversary event is still live. Latias is now playable, and you can earn its Unite license by completing event missions. The celebration ends September 4, so be sure to download the game from the Google Play Store before then.
