Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update Adds New Game Plus and More
Team Ninja has released a significant update for Ninja Gaiden Master Collection’s Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, bringing it to version 1.0.7.0. This patch delivers highly anticipated features, including New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and various quality-of-life improvements, fulfilling a promise made to fans in January. Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), this update significantly enhances the gameplay experience.
New Game Plus allows players to embark on a fresh playthrough at any previously completed difficulty level, retaining all previously acquired weapons and Ninpo. Note that these items will be reset to level 1, and you cannot directly select a higher difficulty using this mode.
A much-requested feature, the ability to hide the projectile weapon carried on Ryu Hayabusa's back, has been added. This toggle is conveniently located within the Game Settings section of the Options menu.
Balance adjustments include HP reductions for enemies in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage boost for some of Ayane's attacks. These changes aim to refine the challenge and pacing of the game.
Numerous bug fixes are also included, addressing issues related to high-performance PCs, game-breaking bugs in specific chapters, and general stability improvements. A complete list of fixes is detailed below.
Originally a surprise release during the January Xbox Developer Direct, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a remastered version leveraging Unreal Engine 5, offers enhanced visuals, new playable characters, and improved battle mechanics. IGN's 8/10 review praised the game's visual improvements and engaging action, despite noting some adjustments to enemy health.
