Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds introduces a new character customization feature allowing players to edit their hunter and Palico appearances. While the initial edit is free, subsequent adjustments require purchasing Character Edit Vouchers. These vouchers are sold in packs of three for $6, or a combined pack for both hunter and Palico for $10. Without vouchers, players are limited to altering hairstyles, eyebrow color, makeup, and clothing; core facial features remain unchanged.

This monetization model was not revealed prior to the game's launch and was announced last week via Capcom's social media. Despite controversy surrounding this and reported performance issues, Monster Hunter Wilds achieved remarkable success, boasting over 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam at launch.

Capcom has yet to respond to player feedback regarding this paid customization system. The community's reaction has been largely negative, with many expressing disappointment at the departure from previous titles where appearance changes were either free or obtainable through in-game progression. This paid model is seen by many as undermining a core aspect of the franchise.
