Lego Batman: Open World Game Set in Gotham

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live, showcasing an open-world Gotham City that players can explore in the Batmobile.

The ambitious title is being developed by TT Games, the studio responsible for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and many other licensed Lego games. It is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The game includes characters and levels inspired by various well-known Batman films and comics, while combat mechanics resemble those of the Batman Arkham series. Notably, Matt Berry provides the voice of Bane.

"Whether he embodies the vengeful Dark Knight, the sharp-witted detective, or the unexpected guardian of the ‘Batfam,’ Batman has continually transformed — influenced by his surroundings while remaining an enduring symbol," said Jim Lee, President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer of DC.

"This game unites nearly every aspect of his legacy, offering players the chance to experience the full scope of what makes Batman an icon. Crafted with meticulous care, creativity, and profound respect for the lore, TT Games has delivered a heartfelt tribute to the Batman universe."

For years, TT Games dominated the market for licensed Lego video games on PC and consoles, consistently releasing new titles each year. From 2005 to 2022, the studio launched over 20 Lego games, spanning franchises such as Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. The company experimented with the toys-to-life genre through Lego Dimensions and explored sandbox gameplay in Lego Worlds.

Now, TT Games’ fresh approach to Lego Batman emerges in a new landscape, with various Lego titles available from other developers, the toy brand deeply embedded in Fortnite, and a significant gap since 2022’s Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. It will be exciting to discover what the developer has been working on.
