State of Play Returns for Ghost of Yotei Gameplay
Sucker Punch Productions will showcase a deep dive into Ghost of Yōtei gameplay during a dedicated State of Play presentation next month.
A PlayStation Blog post published after today's June 2025 State of Play confirmed the studio's commitment to revealing more about how this highly anticipated samurai sequel has refined its experience. The Ghost of Tsushima follow-up made a brief appearance near the end of the showcase, primarily serving as a reminder that Sucker Punch remains hard at work to hit its October launch target.
While its fleeting reveal may have left fans wanting more, the July State of Play deep dive aims to make the wait easier. Sucker Punch's segment, which does not yet have a confirmed date, is promised to focus exclusively on Ghost of Yōtei, highlighting its "evolved gameplay mechanics spanning exploration, combat, and more."
The studio officially announced its Ghost of Tsushima sequel last September, tasking players with guiding new protagonist Atsu through a brutal journey across 1603 Japan. Although the wait for concrete story and gameplay details has tested fans' patience since the original's 2020 debut, director Nate Fox assures the experience will offer "a respectful representation" of Japan, continuing the legacy of its predecessor.
Ghost of Yōtei launches exclusively for PS5 on October 2, 2025. For a full recap of today's June 2025 State of Play announcements, click here. To learn more while you wait, explore everything we currently know about Ghost of Yōtei.
