Fast X 2 to Feature Street Racing, Dom & Brian Reunion
Vin Diesel Reveals Fast X: Part 2 Release Date and Paul Walker's Return
During FuelFest in Los Angeles, Vin Diesel confirmed Fast X: Part 2 will hit theaters in April 2027 and made three major announcements: the franchise returns to its LA roots, reconnects with street racing culture, and reunites Dominic Toretto with Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner.

This confirms Diesel's 2023 teaser about giving Walker's character a proper sendoff. Walker, who tragically died in a 2013 car accident at age 40, last appeared through archival footage in Fast X after starring in seven franchise installments beginning with 2001's original film.
How Will Brian O'Conner Return?
The big question remains how the filmmakers will handle Walker's return after his emotional Furious 7 farewell. Fan reactions are mixed about revisiting the character posthumously.
Back to Street Racing Roots
Diesel's emphasis on returning to street racing directly addresses criticism about the franchise's shift from car culture to over-the-top action spectacles resembling G.I. Joe more than automotive films.
The Rock Factor
Another open question is Dwayne Johnson's potential involvement. The actors' public feud - including Johnson calling Diesel "unprofessional" in 2016 - appeared resolved when Diesel recently posted an Instagram photo captioned "All love... Always" after joking about their rivalry at the Golden Globes.
Despite co-starring in three Fast films, their behind-the-scenes tension became public. Diesel later framed their clashes as "tough love" directing, while Johnson stated in 2023 they've moved past conflicts to focus on franchise success.
