EA Shutters Longtime Mobile Game: "The Simpsons: Tapped Out"

EA's long-running mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, is nearing its end. After a twelve-year run, the city-building game, initially released in 2012 on the App Store and 2013 on Google Play, will be sunsetted by Electronic Arts.

The Shutdown Timeline

In-app purchases are already unavailable. The game will be removed from app stores on October 31st, 2024, meaning new downloads will no longer be possible. Existing players can continue enjoying Springfield until January 24th, 2025, when the servers will be permanently shut down. EA expressed gratitude to players for their decade-long support in a farewell message.

A Final Chance to Experience Springfield?

For those yet to experience the game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out offers a unique blend of city-building and Simpsons humor. Players rebuild Springfield after Homer's accidental nuclear meltdown, interacting with iconic characters and expanding the town to include Springfield Heights and even managing the Kwik-E-Mart. The freemium model utilizes "donuts" as the in-game currency, with regular updates reflecting show storylines and real-world events.

Before the game disappears, consider downloading it from the Google Play Store for a final dose of Simpsons-themed fun. And don't miss our article on the upcoming mobile game, eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit!
