The first story arc is currently available for preorder, shipping August 5. The second arc began with issue #7's fresh take on Mr. Freeze, and issue #9 arrives this week—introducing a reinvented Bane. While maintaining his iconic luchador physique and Venom enhancements, this version features new motivations and surprising ties to Alfred Pennyworth.
IGN exclusively interviewed Absolute Batman's creative team—writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta. Regarding Bane's formidable presence, Snyder explained: "We designed him to physically dominate Batman. Some expected a smaller version, but we wanted Bruce's silhouette to appear dwarfed." The issue also debuts alternate versions of Dick Grayson (pre-Robin/Nightwing) and Deathstroke.
Absolute Batman #9 contains 32 pages, available digitally via Kindle ($4.99) and physically through Amazon ($19.89 at 33% off).
