A standard domino set typically includes 28 tiles, but some games use larger sets (double-9 and double-12) for variations like Mexican Train and Chicken Foot. Different regions have their own favored domino games: England (Muggins), Scandinavia (Bergen), Mexico (Mexican Train), and Spain (Matador).

Dominoes originated in Song Dynasty China. They arrived in Italy during the 18th century, though the exact evolution of the game is unclear.

Basic Domino Gameplay:

Blocking Games: Two players use a double-six set. Tiles are shuffled and each player draws seven. The first player plays a tile, starting a line where adjacent tiles must match. Players take turns adding tiles to either end. The game ends when a player uses all their tiles or the game is blocked. The blocker typically receives the points from the opponent's remaining tiles. Starting tiles vary by game (e.g., highest double in Muggins, 0-0 in Bergen, next lowest double in Mexican Train).

Scoring Games: Points are awarded for specific tile combinations, moves, or emptying one's hand. Many scoring games build upon the draw game mechanic. In Muggins, open ends must add up to multiples of five. In Bergen, points are scored when open ends are equal. In Mexican Train, the double-zero tile is worth 50 points. Failing to call "domino" before placing a tile can result in penalties.

Draw Games: In draw games (blocking or scoring), players can draw extra tiles from the remaining stock before playing. The score is based on the pips of the losing player's hand and the remaining stock.

Mexican Train is here! Enjoy this popular variation, and play online (Draw, Block, and Muggins) for free!
