Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence: Over 200,000 Copies Sold!

Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has exceeded expectations, surpassing 200,000 units sold across all platforms. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given initial launch challenges, including technical issues and criticism regarding content changes. The strong sales figures clearly indicate significant player demand for this action-packed title.

Developed by Dragami Games (not the original Grasshopper Manufacture), RePOP delivers a visually enhanced and refined experience, including quality-of-life improvements to the classic hack-and-slash gameplay. The game, known for its unique blend of cheerleader-protagonist Juliet Starling battling zombies with a chainsaw, retains the signature style of the original. This updated version is available on current and last-gen consoles, as well as PC.

Dragami Games recently announced the impressive sales milestone via a tweet, celebrating the game's success.

A Celebratory Milestone for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP

The game casts players as Juliet Starling, a high school cheerleader who discovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school becomes overrun by the undead. Players engage in intense chainsaw combat against hordes of zombies and unique bosses, delivering a thrilling action experience reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

While the original Lollipop Chainsaw (released in 2012 on PS3 and Xbox 360) achieved even greater success, selling over a million copies, the remaster's performance is still a significant accomplishment. The original game benefited from the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda (Grasshopper Manufacture) and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), a partnership that contributed significantly to the game's distinctive story and narrative.

The future of the Lollipop Chainsaw franchise remains uncertain. While there's currently no news of DLC or a sequel, the remaster's sales success offers a promising outlook for remasters of other cult-classic games. This positive trend is further exemplified by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another Grasshopper Manufacture title now available on modern platforms.
